How to create a visual scene
Visual scenes can be created in two main ways: either with a photograph with hotspot cells which will tell you about that part of the photo,
or using a clean image on which you can place symbols (see below). 
1. Set your photograph or picture as the grid background- Press F11 to go into editing mode.
- Select Edit grid settings (on the left hand side of window under Grid Options).
- Select Picture from the drop down menu for Grid background.
- Click Browse for picture.
- Navigate to where your photograph is stored. If using our visual scene templates, go to C:Program FilesSensory SoftwareCommonPicturesDynamic Scene Displays
- Click Open, and then Ok
2. Hide empty cellsThis is to ensure that blank cells do not appear on top of the visual scene, and cannot be selected. - Go to Edit – User Settings – Appearance settings
- Tick Hide blank cells
- Click Ok
3. Add in extra rows and columns- Confirm you are in editing mode (if not, press F11)
- Select Add/delete a row (or Add/delete a column)
- Move mouse over grid, when in the middle of a cell it will be blue click to add row/column. When in between the cells it will be red click to delete row/column.
- Click Stop adding/deleting rows when finished adding rows and columns.
4. Create transparent cell style- Press F11 to go into editing mode
- Click on Change style on the left hand side under Cell Options
- Click on New Preset Style
- Type transparent cell, then click on Ok
- Click on the Background drop down menu, and select Transparent, then Ok.
5. Create cells that speak
These will be the hotspots or symbols on your picture. - Press F11 to go into editing mode
- Select the cell you wish to speak.
- Move mouse over the little white box on the outside of the cell and drag the cell to the size you need.
- Double Click on the cell, and type into Vocab cell your caption for the cell
- Click on the black arrow linking Cell Text and Description.
- Delete the writing in Cell Text
- Click on Change Picture to choose a different symbol or click on No Picture
- Click on the drop down next to Style and choose transparent cell.
Repeat step 5 as many times as you require, and you will now have your visual scene.
